The Learning Center serves as a vehicle in ensuring that students receive
instruction and reinforcement in various areas in order to become responsible
and respectful adults and to be prepared for higher education. The four areas of
guidance are: mental, physical, social, ethical.
• Students will discover the mental aspect during the
daily ritual of homework, reading, writing in journals, and participating in
supplemental exercises to reinforce what is learned at school.
• A physical commitment is met daily as the students
perform a variety of exercises including sit-ups, push-ups, running, stretching,
jump-ropes, and participating in team sports. Great attention is also paid to
individual diet as a part of overall good mental and physical health.
• Students continue to progress on their social
relationships as they work in small groups during the math, phonics, and reading
enrichment portions of the program. In addition to small group work, students
also work in pairs on educational computer games.
• Ethical enrichment is a part of
the daily routine as students discuss the ramifications of their actions.
